Fiber, fibre and OM4!

November 12, 2014

What’s the difference?
The words Fiber and Fibre are often swapped, most people assume that it is American versus UK spelling, but that is wrong. Fiber is actually the Fiber optic cable whereas Fibre is a generic term to describe the Fabric, which can include both Fiber and Copper technology that links your storage, switches and servers.

OM stands for Optical Multi-mode (multiple rays of light simultaneously) and the 4 refers to the latest version that can extend communications up to 300 meters at 10 Gb/s.

April 2010 HP ProLiant Max Quantity Discounts in iQuote

April 7, 2010

The easiest way to quote HP ProLiant Max Quantity Discounts. Use iQuote to ensure that you have factored in all of the available promotions from HP. This includes the HP ProLiant “Max Quantity Discounts” where Server Options are available promotionally priced but capped per system unit. iQuote provides a highly intuitive way to identify discounted options but also automatically handles the quantity capping.

Calculating these off a spreadsheet is time consuming and unintuitive. Also iQuote helps with the lifecycle of the quotation so that when a quote is re-opened it will warn you if these discounts are no longer available.

iQuote’s main objective is to enhance the sales experience. For more information on iQuote visit:

March 22, 2010

iQuote now offers more HP ProLiant options. Our stated aim is to handle as many server configurations in iQuote as possible without Sales needing to manually add options afterwards. With that in mind we have expanded the supported options to include Host Channel Adapters (aka Host Bus Adapters) for attaching Servers to Storage Area Networks. We’ve also added more UPSs to include larger UPS sizes.

If you are an HP iQuote user and you spot an option that you want to sell and it is NOT visible in iQuote please use the Feedback form at the bottom of your screen to tell us. Thanks from the channelcentral team.
