What is Memristor?

December 8, 2014

Not quite as exciting as a new Transformer, but almost!

Memristor is a tech term that you will hear more over the next couple of years from HP. Faster than DRAM with the permanence of Flash and the storage density greater than disk. Could it be used as storage or memory? The answer to both is yes! Amazing though it sounds, swapping IONs at the atomic level will facilitate the creation of multi TB of storage that is no bigger than 3 stacked Smartphones. Watch this space.

iQuote Memory Slot Count Now Dynamic

August 8, 2011

An improved Memory Slot notification means more clarity for iQuote Users. Not a bug as such, more of a missing feature. iQuote shows the total memory slots and the number of slots occupied as standard. However with some systems the number of memory slots enabled depends on the quantity of processors installed. Users told us that they’d like the Total Memory Slots to update if a second processor is added. That now happens.

With 1 Processor:

Memory 1 CPU

With 2 Processors:

Memory 2 CPU

iQuote Memory in Table of Contents Much Better

June 3, 2010

Feedback from iQuote Users for Memory Improvements. People wanted us to show the memory type and DIMM configuration in the System’s Table of Contents. So we do. Example:

Before: 2GB (1333MHz)
After: 2GB (1 x 2GB) DDR3 1333MHz UDIMM

Works for all products: notebooks, desktops, workstations, servers, blades. Major timesaver. Before you could work it out but you had to open up the Memory Option section.
