How to Handle Warnings

The iQuote service is delivered via a Portal. The output (a valid quotation) is exported from iQuote’s Portal into Excel or XML. So how does iQuote treat quantity validation errors? There are 2 levels of error:

  1. A warning will allow the user to export the iQuote. Example: installing the amount of memory requires the pre-installed components to be removed – a common scenario.
  2. A failure means that the configuration will fail and so cannot be exported from iQuote.

This offers the best user experience. A user could potentially export and then change a quote but as all quotes are recorded it wouldn’t match the saved version.
